The BC Jodo Shinshu Buddhist Temples Federation is proud to announce the 2025 Vancouver Island Obon Tour from Aug. 6th to 10th. For this year’s tour, we are working together with the Victoria Nikkei Cultural Society as well as the Seven Potatoes Nikkei Society in Nanaimo to organize a comprehensive tour which will be highlighted by the Obon Cemetery visitations but will also be focusing on interacting with the local Nikkei communities on Vancouver Island.
Highlights from the trip include visits to Ucluelet, Tofino, Port Alberni, Cumberland, Nanaimo, Chemainus, Duncan, and Ross Bay Cemetery in Victoria. We are trying to organize fellowship gatherings with local Nikkei communities in Victoria, Nanaimo, and Cumberland.
During these gatherings, we hope to get to know the local communities to renew old friendships as well as encounter new relations. This will be a voyage of encountering new experiences, and new culinary experiences as well.
Below is the Vancouver Island Obon information and registration form. Space is limited and the deadline for registration is July 1. Please contact Rev Grant Ikuta if you are interested in joining the tour.
